IND vs ENG | Wouldn’t call it a good pitch but it made for exciting cricket, opines Joe Root
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Following a shambolic loss, Joe Root opined that he wouldn’t call the Chennai pitch for the second Test as a ‘good’ pitch but insisted that it made for exciting cricket. He also admitted that it is a learning experience for the visitors to look at India and bat for long periods of time. After cruising past the hosts India in the first Test, where Joe Root led by example, England were looking to keep their momentum up for the second Test, at the same venue. However, right from the toss, everything went awry as they lost the toss and were made to bowl on a relatively flatter wicket. Eventually, that combined with their first innings batting display took the game away from the visitors, who ended up chasing the game from the second day. The visitors subsequently succumbed to a 317-run loss, during which the conditions in Chennai was a major part of the debate. Joe Root opined that he wouldn’t call it a good pitch but reckoned that the pitch did make for exciting cricket between the two teams. "It's very alien to what a lot of English guys will have experienced before, as are green seamers that you might across in the UK. Do I think it was a good pitch? I wouldn't say it was a good pitch, but it made for very exciting cricket,” said Root, reported ESPNCricinfo. "I do think that the toss was an important one to win but it wouldn't have guaranteed us to win the game either. India showed that you can score runs on it and found a way of managing a very tricky surface so we've got to learn from that,” he added.Despite the tricky surface, India through their two innings - showed England how to bat, scoring 614 runs. Root stated that it was something that the visitors would have to learn from and added that they needed bat for long periods of time like the hosts. "How they (India) didn't get away from their game plan, how they knew exactly the way they were going to score their runs. How they managed to bat at the other end for long periods of time.”"And as a batting group, how does that look for us individually? How I am going to manage these big turning deliveries and how am I going to stay really calm and clear under pressure? We've got to take bits from it and add it to our own games, and come back better for it as well," he added. However, next up for the visitors would be a day-night clash in Ahmedabad, where Root has his sights on, insisting that the break will help them regain momentum. "Day-night cricket offers something different again, so we are very much looking forward to that. We'll have a little bit of a break now to refresh and have a look at a few things, but it's exciting times.”Follow us on Facebook hereStay connected with us on Twitter hereLike and share our Instagram page here .

Is Hellmuth vs Negreanu happening?
By admin | | 0 Comments |

We recap some stories you may have missed including a huge PKO event and how much of himself is Landon Tice playing for? KidPoker vs the Poker Brat? We hinted at it last week and now it seems confirmed that Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth will play heads-up.  Given both men are traditionally live players it seems inevitable that it will be face to face and streamed on PokerGO.  The early betting markets have suggested Hellmuth is the favourite, which seems ludicrous given how much Negreanu improved in his heads-up challenge against Doug Polk.  Happy to play anyone on @PokerGo App’s “High Stakes Duel.” Looks like they are bringing me the GREAT Daniel Negreanu @RealKidPoker, the guy that studied heads up for months w coaches I respect, so be it. It will be a great challenge for me! Hoping I don’t look like THIS photo!! pic.twitter.com/EpE1BqRMWP — phil_hellmuth (@phil_hellmuth) February 13, 2021 Tice has skin in the game The other big heads-up match in the works is Landon Tice vs Bill Perkins, and it has been the subject of a lot of debate this last week. Namely, how much does the poker wunderkind Landon Tice have invested in himself? Rumours circulated that he is playing for just 10% of himself in this challenge where he is already paying Bill Perkins $720,000 to play.  Tice confirmed that he has sold a lot of action for this event but while his percentage is low, it still means he has a lot of his net worth on the line: Let me make something clear that I'm sure everyone cares about regarding my challenge with @bp22 I'm selling a lot of action for it. A lot.I'm not rolled to battle at nosebleeds. However, I am putting a very large amount of my relative net worth on myself winning it. — Landon (@LandonTice) February 11, 2021 MicroMillions the biggest PKO ever? Warriors Teammate Praises Steph Curry and Draymond Green’s Hall of Fame IQ
By admin | | 0 Comments |

After a bumpy start to the 2020-21 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors are getting back in form. They made several changes to their roster in the offseason and it took some time for the players to settle in. But with the All-Star break almost here, the Dubs are looking consistent. The credit for their newfound success goes to none other than their veteran duo of Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Recently, the two stars flaunted their skills against the Cavaliers in a comfortable 129-98 victory. Curry continued his hot scoring streak with 36 points against the Cavs. On the other hand, Green handled the facilitating duties for the team as he finished the game with 16 assists. The two stars have shouldered the burden for the team in the absence of Klay Thompson. But can the Warriors go all the way and win another championship? We will find out in the coming months. Steph Curry and Draymond Green: The two pillars for the Golden State Warriors Golden State Warriors forward Kent Bazemore (26) and forward Juan Toscano-Anderson (95) and guard Stephen Curry (30) and forward Draymond Green (23) during the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors at the American Airlines Center. Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-USA TODAY SportsFollowing this sensational victory, Juan Toscano-Anderson gave an interesting post-game interview. He said: “I am a beneficiary of these guys, their hall of fame IQ. You know Draymond [Green] had 16 assists today and that’s amazing from our starting center. Last five games, he’s in double digits assists. … Either Steph [Curry] is open or Imma be open. “I’m aware that the defense ain’t gonna leave him so I just find those gaps and get those easy buckets. I know Draymond sees everything. Sometimes he sees it a little too quick before any of us see it, but it’s great to play with a guy like that.” Draymond Green has always been an amazing playmaker for the Dubs. Even during their stretch of dominance in the mid 2010s, he took on the role of a facilitator for their championship teams. This season, he is elevating his game further in that department. Ashwin stars as India thrash England to level Test series
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Chennai: India captain Virat Kohli said Tuesday his side showed more “grit” and “determination” to thrash England in the second Test, playing down complaints about the difficult pitch. With local hero Ravichandran Ashwin claiming eight wickets in the match and scoring 106 in the second innings, India completed a 317-run victory inside four days in Chennai. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel claimed a five-wicket haul on his Test debut as England were out for 164 while chasing an unlikely 482 on day four. Some said the Chennai pitch, which crumbled from nearly the first day, was not fit for a Test. But England made no public complaint and Kohli rejected the criticism and said his side played a “perfect game”. “I think our application with the bat was outstanding,” said the India captain. “The conditions were challenging for both sides but we showed more application and grit and determination to battle it out. “We didn’t panic out there looking at the hard turn and bounce on that pitch.” Kohli highlighted that India scored 600 runs over two innings despite the conditions, and winning the toss made no difference. “So if you put up that kind of batting performance and you string in those important batting partnerships then we know that our bowlers are going to do the job.” England ‘outplayed England captain Joe Root conceded that his side were “outplayed in all three departments this week” and had to learn quickly before the third Test in Ahmedabad. But he added: “I would say it was a challenging wicket. I do think that it was an important toss to win.” England, he said, now have to be “honest” and learn quickly to adapt to conditions in India. England, struggling since the opening day, kept losing wickets after resuming on 53-3 on day four. Root departed for 33 soon after lunch, falling to Patel. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav joined in to finish off the innings, taking Moeen Ali after he smashed 43 off 18 balls. The last wicket partnership of 38 between Ali and Stuart Broad, unbeaten on five, was England’s highest of the match. England, who have been resting and rotating players, said Ali would be returning home after the Test. Ali had coronavirus in Sri Lanka but recovered to take a total of eight wickets in the second Test against India. Ashwin’s five wickets to help bowl out England for 134 in the first innings in response to India’s 329 set the tone for the host’s dominance. England conceded a lead of 195 and then struggled on a pitch that offered turn from day one. “This wicket was very different to the one we played on in the first game,” Ashwin conceded, but he added that the wickets had not fallen from the balls he expected. “It was the mind of the batsmen that got us wickets.” Opener Rohit Sharma hit an attacking 161 to set up India’s big innings after they won the toss and elected to bat first. Sharma’s seventh Test century and his first against England raised the pitch of the returning Indian crowd — present in a stadium for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic. Kohli made 62 in the second innings, putting on a key 96-run seventh-wicket partnership with Ashwin on day three. Both sides need to win the series to take the second place in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand later this year. The third Test — a day-night match — will begin in Ahmedabad on February 24. Authorities have not said if fans will be allowed into the world’s biggest cricket stadium — with a 100,000-plus capacity — for the game. IND vs ENG | India outplayed us in all three departments, it’s been an education for us, admits Joe Root
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Losing English skipper Joe Root had no qualms in admitting that the tourists were outplayed by the hosts in all the departments with plenty of learnings for them. He praised Moeen Ali for improving as the game progressed and also the way wicketkeeper Ben Fokaes batted and kept wickets. After a thumping defeat in the Test series opener, pretty much channelling their Down Under spirit, India fought back incredibly well to down England by 317 runs in the second Test at the Chepauk to level the Test series 1-1. It was a game where England were completely outplayed and there was no time when they looked like in the game especially after their horrendous show with the bat in the first innings. Not only were they disappointing with the bat, but they also weren't accurate and penetrative enough with the ball on a pitch that had a lot of assistance for spinners. Speaking post the loss, Joe Root admitted that the team was outplayed and they need to learn how to build pressure as they weren't tight enough on day one of the Test, where India ended on 300/6."Credit to India, they outplayed us in all three departments. It has been an education for us, you could come up with conditions like these and we have to learn from this and find a way to score runs. We need to learn to build pressure and bowl six balls at one batsman. On day one we could have been a bit tighter, squeeze the game a bit more and make it harder for them to score," Joe Root said at the post-match presentation. He also asserted that the wicket got difficult from day two but they need to bat better in terms of building their innings. The English skipper is still keeping high spirits and looking forward to the last two Tests. "From day two it was a very difficult wicket to bat on. But we have got to be smarter about how we're building an innings. We are 1-1 and we are excited about the next two games given the way we played in the first game. We could've played that extra spinner, it is always easy to look at balancing a side at the end of the game. It will be different again when we turn up for the third game which will be a day-nighter, and very exciting last two games." England had included Moeen Ali at the expense of Dom Bess while Ben Foakes replaced Jos Buttler for the Test and both of them had a good game especially Foakes who impressed with both the bat and the gloves. Root also praised both the players. "Moeen got better with the ball as the game went on, and we know how destructive he can be with the bat. Ben Foakes batted really well in the first innings and his keeping has always been excellent. There are definitely things we can take from this week."Follow us on Facebook hereStay connected with us on Twitter hereLike and share our Instagram page here .

Valorant Modded Servers Could Change the Game Forever
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Valorant, developed by Riot Games, remains a few months away from its one-year anniversary. The game has already cemented itself as one of the best first-person shooting games with features that the others can’t match. The game has one of the best anti cheat softwares with Vanguard and a studio that regularly updates the game. But if players had one gripe about the game is the fact that there is not a lot to choose from. The game currently has 5 maps and a few modes that you can find on any other FPS games. So what if Riot can pull a monumental move and add in community mod support? The effect would be unparalleled. READ MORE- Valorant Global Competitive Has a New Contender, Vitality Valorant and Community modded servers A community support makes a tremendous amount of difference to a game, whether it’s a low or a high budget title. Games with huge budgets have gone to create thousands of hours of content that the developers can never fulfill. In games such as Minecraft, Mojang have created an environment with different worlds and storyline campaigns created from servers such as Hypixel and Brawl. Although in an FPS game it’s very unlikely to get a unique environment to play on, the best part doesn’t even revolve around that. Players can play with or against each other on any map they want, which can change the entire scope of the game. Even in the same genre, CS:GO made a name for itself to have allowed players to match up against each 0ther. The first competitive scene for the game came from the community servers back in the days of 1.6 and Condition Zero, and although it’s not the case for Valorant, it still could be a huge part in the game for Riot Games to think about it. What if Riot Games decide to go the whole 9 yards? The one major positive idea of such a mode is the new environments players can build and use. The community could build new maps that can create a fresh feeling for players. Custom maps that become popular can integrate into the main game for the wider audience to use. One of the major examples of this happening arrived in 2019 when Cache, a community custom map, became an official map of CS: GO and used in the pro circuit. New modes can also arrive, and players don’t always have to jump on Deathmatch or Spike Rush. Players can create newer ways to play that don’t even have to revolve around FPS that games such as Fortnite and Garry’s mod did with their games. The possibilities remain endless, and the game can have a prominent player base that doesn’t even have to stick for the main game. The chances for such a major overhaul might be a little too far-fetched for Riot Games. But it doesn’t seem like a stretch for them to incorporate some of these elements into the game in the future. TSN Archives: Dan Daniel introduces Yankees rookie Joe DiMaggio to America
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Long before Joe DiMaggio earned the Joltin’ Joe nickname, he was just a kid from San Francisco who wanted to play shortstop. Dan Daniel — himself a Hall of Famer who built his reputation, in part, with his unforgettable reporting on Yankees legend Babe Ruth — was there for DiMaggio’s first spring training with the Yankees. It's safe to say Daniel was impressed, comparing the 21-year-old rookie to legendary batsman Joe Jackson in a column that introduced the budding star to the American public. Unfortunately, the nickname “Shoeless Joe DiMaggio” never stuck. Fortunately, TSN used a picture of DiMaggio showing off his biceps as the art. Outstanding.  MORE: 23 rare photos of Joe DiMaggio from TSN's archivesOriginal publish date: March 26, 1936 (TSN Archives) https://images.daznservices.com/di/library/sporting_news/5a/c3/snthrowback-dimaggio-072518-ftr-snjpg_oy2h5z03r90k1erhyrn8edxtg.jpg?t=-759852020&w=500&quality=80 Daniel, Sizing Up Joe DiMaggio in Camp, Calls Him a Throwback to Joe JacksonBy Daniel M. DanielJoseph Paul DiMaggio, Jr., faces no easy task with the Yankees. Hailed as the greatest minor-league star of 1935, flattered with the announcement that but for having been sold to New York, the Red Sox would have paid $60,000 for him, confronted with the fact that Yankees fans regard him as the Moses who is to lead their club out of the second-place wilderness, in which it has wandered for three years, he is more in the limelight than any other major league recruit. In fact, Giuseppe, as Bill Duncan pointed out in his comparison of highly touted phenoms from the Coast, in a recent issue of THE SPORTING NEWS, is decidedly on the spot, but from early indications, it appears he will live up to his boosters’ predictions. DiMaggio certainly created a furore in his first two games with the Yankees, against the Cardinals. Sam Breadon and Frankie Frisch went into ecstasies over Giuseppe, and so did John O. Seys of the Cubs. In the pair of contests with the Redbirds, DiMaggio got six hits for .666, smacking a tremendous triple in each. At Bradenton, the three-bagger went to the 420-foot mark on the right-center field fence. Joe followed this performance by getting four hits in a game against the Reds, March 20, giving him a total of ten hits in 16 times at bat, for the impressive mark of .625 for three games. During that period he faces three right-handers and three southpaws, getting five hits against each style of flinging, and his drives went to all fields. In his next appearance, against the Braves, Joe made two hits in four times at bat, running his total to 12 hits out of 20 trips to the plate. Then he went on the shelf for tendays, with a burn on the left foot, suffered when the diatherma treatment was applied to an injury received in a game. The Yankees bought DiMaggio at the minor league meeting in Columbus in November, 1934. Joe had injured a knee getting out of a taxicab the previous summer, and this left his future in doubt. The New York club purchased an option to take DiMaggio for $25,000 in cash and five players. DiMaggio was left with the Seals. Last summer, the deal was closed—much to the chagrin of the San Francisco flub, which had that offer from Eddie Collins before it. DiMaggio was born in Martinez, Cal., November 25, 1914, which makes him just past 21. He weighs 190 pounds and stands half an inch over six feet in height. He hits right-handed and throws right. Joe is one of nine children. He has four sisters and as many brothers. Dominic, 19, plays bush ball around San Francisco and Joe says he is a comer. Vincent is an outfielder with the San Diego Padres of the Pacific Coast League. Vince is Joe’s senior and was with the Seals when Joe broke in. When Joe was only a year old, the family moves from Martinez to San Francisco. Joe’s dad was a fisherman. Now, at 67, he is retired, and a close student of baseball, about which he knew nothing until a couple of years ago, when he became a hot fan. Joe began playing ball when he was ten. He was a shortstop then. In fact, DiMaggio did not become an outfielder until 1933. At 14, Joe lost interest in baseball. He went in for tennis in a big way, and played basket ball, and “touch” football. When his brother Vince hooked up with the Seals, and made good, Joe began to think things over and went back to baseball intensively. He joined the San Francisco Boys Club, then played for the Mission Red A’s, all at short. With his brother on the Seals, Joe began to haunt the knotholes at the San Francisco park. However, he had aroused the interest of Spike Hennessey, scout, who hauled Joe into the Seals’ office, where Charley Graham told him there was no need of his peeking through knotholes, and handed him a bunch of passes. Graham asked Joe to work out for a few weeks with the Seals. Near the close of the season, Augie Galan got permission to go to Honolulu, so Joe played in Augie’s place in three games. That was 1932. Joe got two hits in nine tries, and remembers that his first safety, off Ted Pillette, was a triple. In 1933, the Seals asked Joe to attend their school. Then Joe signed and went to camp. He was given his chance at short, but proved a failure. About that time a young man by the name of Stewart had developed into something of a sensation in right field, when suddenly he stopped hitting. One day Manager Caveney sent DiMaggio in to bat for Stewart. Joe got a base on balls. The following day Caveney sent Joe to right right. Young DiMaggio was amazed. His own brother, Vince, and Prince Oana both were on the bench. But Joe got the call over the pair. And he remained in the outfield from then on. In his second season with the Seals, DiMaggio set a Coast record by hitting in 61 consecutive games. Buck Newsom, who was the toughest pitcher for Joe, almost stopped that streak right in the middle. Young Ed Walsh was the pitcher finally halting DiMaggio. In 1935, DiMaggio and Oscar Eckhardt, now with the Dodgers, had a great battle for the Coast batting title. Ox won with .399. Joe hit .398. In the first half, DiMaggio batted only .320. He hit over .500 the second half.  Joe reminds one of Joe Jackson at the plate—standing with one foot back, with his feet 12 inches apart. He swings a 40-ounce bat, 36 inches in length—one of the biggest bats used by any major league player, even heavier than that of his teammate, Lou Gehrig, whose club weighs 39 ounces. Al Simmons, who was induced by Mickey Cochrane to lighten his bat to 33 ounces, uses a 37-inch length. The average mace weighs 36 ounces and is 35 inches long. Joe meets the ball at the last possible fraction of a second. Most of his hits are pulled. He has a remarkable arm, as evidenced by his 36 assists last season. That total was achieved in spite of the fact that for the last month of the campaign he was handicapped by a cold in his arm. His throwing and fielding has measured up to expectations in exhibition work this spring. Among his 1935 feats was a drive over the 420-foot left field fence in San Francisco—the longest in Coast league records. He scored 171 runs and drove in 151. Joe got 34 homers and was voted the most valuable player in the league. Joe likes movies, but hasn’t much use for books. He also likes spaghetti, even though his new teammate, Tony Lazzeri, doesn’t care much for Italy’s favorite dish. Although DiMaggio regards Joe Cronin, another Californian, as his baseball hero, he credits Frank O’Doul, his manager at San Francisco last year, with giving him his greatest help in the game.
